About Us

Northeast Oregon Area Health Education Center (NEOAHEC)

Our Vision

We are a nonprofit organization that works toward addressing the healthcare workforce shortage in rural and frontier Oregon by developing our own health professionals that reflect the composition and needs of the communities they serve.

Our Mission

To educate and inspire students and professionals to build a sustainable healthcare community for Eastern Oregon.

Our Service Area

We provide programs and services in 11 counties in our region, including Baker, Gilliam, Hood River, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, and Wheeler.

What We Do

We are creating a pathway for success for students interested in a career in healthcare.

We begin introducing students to health careers in elementary and middle school with curriculum designed to enhance what they are learning in school about science and math.

In high school and college, we mentor students with a dynamic progression of programs that prepare them for a career as a healthcare professional in their rural community.

For health professionals in training, we provide housing in 6 of our 11 counties for graduate students completing a rural rotation in eastern Oregon. By providing this housing, we allow students to fully immerse themselves in the communities they are rotating in.
