The Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network (ORPRN) was established in 2002 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. ORPRN is dedicated to improving the health of rural Oregonians through community engaged dialogue, coaching, education and research. ORPRN facilitates a broad variety of clinical health care research, quality improvement projects, and practice transformation efforts in rural Oregon through the work of the Practice Enhancement Research Coordinator (PERC). PERCs are located regionally around the state.

Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range:
  • FTE: 1.0, Full Time
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000
  • Location: Eastern Oregon (La Grande, Pendleton, Hermiston, or Baker City), remote-based position

Functions/Duties of Position:

The Practice Enhancement Research Coordinator (PERC) will serve three main projects: the CASCADE Trial (NCT03409367), Meta-LARC Advance Care Planning (NCT03577002) and the Eastern Oregon Coordinated Care Organization grant program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct research with regional clinics and communities, build relationships that will enable research projects, recruit and enroll subjects, collect research data
  • Implement quality improvement (QI) methods and tools with inter-disciplinary clinic teams, set improvement goals, and coach and motivate practices to reach goals; teach QI to peers to present to practice facilitation community
  • Foster relationships with clinic, community organizations, and key stakeholders; and promote ORPRN with regional stakeholders
  • Support grant creation, budgeting and OHSU contracting
Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major courses in field of research and 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Completion of PCPCI online learning module, change management coursework (e.g., LEAN or CAP classes), and IHI training modules
  • Knowledgeable about practice facilitator handbook
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office, with data entry skills
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with major courses in relevant field
  • Five or more years in research data collection, methodology and implementation; 1 year in primary care setting; and experience with practice facilitation
  • Ability to create spreadsheets, data entry forms and reports, experience with electronic health records
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methods
  • Experience with PCPCH, meaningful use, NCQA
  • Certification with ACRP, SoCRA, or equivalent
  • REDCap training, participation in Research Coordinator Workshop, and completion of Study coordinator Training Series
