The Foundation Is Now Accepting Applications For
Our 2016-17 Tuition Scholarships

Since 1986, the Foundation has awarded over 545 scholarships to DO medical students!

The purpose of the scholarship is to help increase the number of DOs practicing in the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, so preference goes to those students from those states. The application process consists of 1 90 second video presentation, 2 short written essays and three letters of recommendation. The application process is on line at www.nwosteo.org/programs/scholarship. The application deadline is May 31, but you should start requesting your letters of recommendation ASAP to meet the deadline.

DOs Needed To Help Select Our Scholarship Recipients

Do you have a couple hours in June to help us select our Scholarship recipients?

Each year, the Foundation receives between 50 and 60 applications for our scholarships.

No one has time to read and evaluate that many applications! So we put together a team of about 25 DOs from around the country and give each team member 7 to 9 applications to read and evaluate. Each application takes about 15 - 20 to read and evaluate. You have about 2 weeks to complete your evaluation and return it to the Foundation. You have the option of participating in a conference call where the decision is finalized for Board approval.

You can participate even if you are a COM faculty or write a letter of recommendation fora student. The Foundation will per-screen the assignments to ensure you have no conflict of interest.
